ORRSC GIS Day in Lethbridge, AB

In Lethbridge, AB the Oldman River Regional Services Commission (ORRSC) hosted a GIS Day event on November 14th. It was an all day event that featured 11 different presentations, all of which discussed different applications of where GIS science is used. 4 Presentations were from private industry, 3 were municipally based, one from a federal government department, two from University of Lethbridge students, and another one from a faculty member from the University of Lethbridge. There were 50 people that attended the event, representing 23 different organizations. Sponsorship of the event was provided by tecconnect, URISA, and the Alberta Geomatics Group. It was a fantastic networking opportunity for all in attendance as nearly every geospatial user in Southern Alberta attended the event.

Deanna's passion for the outdoors led her to complete a degree from the University of Ottawa with a BA Honours Major in Geography, Minor in Geomatics and Spatial Analysis. While working for GoGeomatics Canada, she decided to attend Algonquin College for a postgraduate certificate in GIS, to further her technical skills.
